    Not that keen on the pixel look – looks a bit dated.

We actually run one of the featured pages http://www.FriendsEAT.com and when we were working with our design team we kept hitting into the question “What color makes you hungry?” We looked at plenty of other community websites and kept telling ourselves, these maybe cool sites but they don’t have the feeling of food. They used pictures not layout to give their feeling. The industry calls them food porn but I am fan of slick clean css driven design. Sites that stand on their own without having to get high gloss istockphotos on their homepage. We are confident our design gives a good vibe and our recent beta launch , we are doing good things for a “mom and pop website”. Come visit us.

    Nice list!
    Even though most of these websites look pretty good I’m not fond of many of them, basically because of the overpowering use of the colour orange. The sites using orange as the more or less supporting colour look better to me.
