This tutorial will show you how to create a shiny badge, such as the type for money back guarantees or anything else you’d like to highlight on your website.
To start off, create a blank canvass and then select the shape you’d like to use.
We are using the classic seal shape for this tutorial but this technique will work on any shape you choose.

Next, we give some effects to the shape – right click on the shape’s layer and select blending options.
We will give the shape some outer glow :

And an inside stroke of 3 pixels :

Your badge should now look like this :

Next, create a new layer above your shape and ctrl + click on the shape below layer, this will create a selection around the edge of the shape like so :

Next, choose red for your foreground colour and white for your background layer and create a gradient in your selection like so :

Now, go to select > modify > contract > 4 pixels
This makes the selection smaller, now go to select > inverse > press delete.
Your shape should now look like this :

Now add some text over the top and you’re done!
Finished Badge :

You can also download the psd for this tutorial.

I love your website layout, so simple, especially the header, but still gives a really nice impression. Also a very good tutorial, didn’t try it out yet as i allready know how to, but it seems very good and nicely detailed, but just had to comment ur layout
