I was just about to have my business cards printed. Now I feel like I should be going with a die-cut solution. Thanks for eye-opener! Plain is boring.

Using a pre-made die (a die created for someone) may reduce costs as well. We had to have paper cut in the shape of a number one, and the print house had one from a previous job that we were able to use and not pay to have one custom made.

This scenario won't apply to many cards or print houses, but it never hurts to ask.

I have a custom die for my business cards, I tried to offset the cost by just printing one color. Taking the cost of 3 inks out will cut that price in half. All of the single color cards in the post don't suffer from having just once color!

I was looking into getting 4x4 rubik's cubes custom printed, since my business has "cube" in the title. It's even better than a business card, because it attaches to someone's keychain. Google "custom rubik's cubes" to take a look.
