Some of my favourite posts for tutorialblog are the roundups of great designs and the color series, so over the last week I have been working on creating a new site which will showcase the best xhtml/CSS designs from around the web. The site is named : CSS Heroes ….
I have noticed some poor quality sites listed at other CSS showcases so for this one I’m aiming to list only the highest quality designs and coding. At the moment you can browse sites by type and by colour tag, I will be adding style tags (clean, grunge etc) as soon as I can figure out how to have two categories of tags with wordpress.
Feel free to recommend your portfolio sites, client sites and anything else nice you come across when browsing. I would appreciate it if you can grab the RSS feed and add it to your readers and rate and comment the designs I have allready listed.

Not another bloody gallery, please
Would you mind share it about the development story? like, what platform it was built?
Sure Felix,
Its running on wordpress with a customised version of WP Designer’s Showcase theme - this is a theme for building gallery-based sites. It makes use of Wordpress’s custom fields for uploading the thumbnails. (so glad I found this theme as it saved me quite a bit of work - it is a paid theme though).
I still have a bit of work and some bugs to iron out on it, I like being able to reference sites by colour but I want to be able to separate them into design styles as well.
The pages for the entries only contain the name and image at the moment so I may start adding a short description with each entry.
You will have to include at least a thumbnail in the RSS feed or else it is somewhat useless.
Yes, Im working on that at the mo,
There’s a few bugs that need attention.
Cheers.
Please, spare us from yet another one… i think we have enough on the internet right now…
Great gallery. I admit it’s a guilty pleasure—I just have to check out every gallery I see.
Thanks Matthew, I’m the same - its always good to look at great design, no ?
To the couple of people moaning about another CSS Gallery - dont sweat it, no one’s making you visit this one, it’s just my take on what I consider to be good websites - hopefully I can build it into a usefull resource for fellow designers.
The only thing that i would be “moaning about” is that no-one has yet done anything different with there’s around here. If you go on down to Genuine Styleyou’ll see that it definitely has both a different look and functionality to it. Just have a look at it’s about me page
Now i don’t want to disregard the already popular showcases out there, because they’ve done their job from the start and are not going well because of it. But for all you people out there that just start up something new and don’t even think about how your going to make in popular because it’s got something unique to it, or if your not going to work hard on it (this probably isn’t the case in this situation), please don’t even bother to start
Make something new people!
Chris - I see nothing new in GenuineStyle? The sites aren’t even categorised in any way.
Care to point out what differentiates it ?
How about no advertisement, ever, large pictures (i have seen this in maybe one or 2 other places), this has a design that doesn’t have the feel at all like a normal showcase, or too many other sites for that reason, close to exact regular updates (once every 12 hours, and this has been happening since october, and looks to continue for quite a long time, and even maybe every 8 hours), i attempt to contact may websites as i can when i have the time, it isn’t cluttered with things that people don’t really look at or care.
It gives you what you need without needing to actually visit the site or be attacked by advertisements somewhere.
Great Gallery Oli!!!I m a creator of cssanarchy gallery and i like to see new gallery like yours with fresh ideas.I build my gallery using snewscms.I do not liked wordpres
also i liked ideas about no advertisement posted by Chris. This make gallery look more profesional. For gallery most important is update. Most this gallerys today dont have updates for 10 and more days.I Really Hate That.Oli i wish you best with your new gallery.
Hello,
Just a quick ones: 1. search type is black - not readable 2. hover and active state of the paging - it’s difficult to guess on which page i am located while browsing.
Cheers
This is very, very good gallery. There are other galleries on the net but they showcase the same sites over and over again. And it is hard to believe that among billions of websites around there are just handful of them worth visiting. Good job for now, I hope it will be good in the future
Its nice, I like the design.
But my only grudge is, why do ALL design galleries out there primarily *only* showcase design studio type sites?
I mean I have seen a ton of decent looking actual(content/interest based) css sites.
I have nothing against them, but its too easy to implement a sweet looking site based on css when you only have to worry about a few pages and more upscale browsers visiting you.
Getting the same to work on a wider internet audience is completely different and few sites accomplish this properly using just css.
If you could add more than just design studios, I may subscribe to your feed. For now, I’ll just stick around here on tutorial blog.
But like I said, I do like how it looks. Just my 2 cents. Okay, maybe 4 but they’re constructive cents.
[…]CSS highest quality designs: http://tutorialblog.org/css-showcase/ […]
There’s nothing new or interesting about this gallery, it’s just a blog with a purhcased skin. Surely you can find better sites to list than this?
Its good.
How about http://www.cssdesigned.com/
Only a few months old, but already has close to 1000 entries. Updated daily too.
few month old and close to 1000 sites.hm.i m not going on other sites and upload my gallery with his sites like cssdesigneds doo. That is wrong. You can`t say all this sites is submitet by people visiting that site for few months. My gallery is 10 months old and i have close to 300 sites.Dont go on other gallerys and submit his web site to yours.Like i sead before that is wrong.I can doo same and my have over 2000 sites easy.no no.submit only what people submit to your gallery and be more profesionals.
Not sure I follow you there Sasha.
One of the “galleries” out there that is not he same thing is inspirationfolder.com . This gallery offers a unique approach to the flooded inspiration market such as a place to store sites you like(no more bookmarking), a full color search and large(r) size images instead of just thumbnails. It also seems to accept any decent website which is good because Inspiration comes from all angles.
