Pixel art is a technique that appeared when the early 2d computer games first appeared, the technique then seemed to disappear when 3d games became popular. Now with mobile gaming and a thirst for retro-cool, pixels are coming back. In this article we will take a look at some examples of great pixel art and then learn some of the techniques involved - all you need is any graphics program from MS Paint to Photoshop and lots of patience. Yep it takes a lot of patience to create pixel art, the results are worth it though.
Ah! This brings me back to the late ’80s when I had first started creating pixel art on the now defunct Amiga 500 computer.. using Deluxe Paint. It’s heart-warming to know that there is a revival for this type of “lost” technique.
