Remove Moiré Patterns in Photoshop

A TutorialBlog.org reader writes us today with a question about how to remove a moiré pattern using photoshop.
Are there any plugins for photoshop to reduce/eliminate moire patterns? — William
For those of you that don’t know, a moiré is an unsightly pattern that emerges when “two grids are overlaid at an angle, or when they have slightly different mesh sizes.” (Thanks, wikipedia.)
Moiré patterns have been a source of frustration for photographers and artists ever since man learned to capture digital images. They are most often a problem for scanned images or digital photos of cloths with interweaving patterns such as tweed and houndstooth.
While, we’re not familiar with any plugins designed to fix moire problems. We do have a favorite video tutorial for learning to fix them yourself. Moiré Go Away is an oldie but goodie from photoshop instructor Russell Brown. Click the link above to watch the video, then when you’re done with that head over to his Photoshop Tips & Techniques page to watch free video tutorials for Photoshop versions 7–CS4.
Do you have any quick fixes for moirés or know of a good plugin to fix this problem? We’d love to know your answer in the comments!

What a wonderful topic for a video tutorial. This will be really helpful specially for those who’ve always wanted to do image editing and manipulation and don’t know how to remove the moire effect on their images. Thanks so much for sharing this!
