Argee with Kevin, i would say design comes second and usability, functionality come first.

Any one can design an attractive website (to a degree) but it's more of a challenge to design a site which is not only ascetically pleasing but can be navigated and used with ease...this relies on the designer understanding usability and functionality issues

"The Design of a website is equally (if not more) important than its functionality and usability."

I think you should lose the "(if not more)" because unless the site is designed just to be pretty, functionally and usability are always more important. Design is used to help facilitate those two things.

The Sistine Chapel is famous. Infamous, which you write, means the same thing as notorious (like Al Capone, for example).
